Overview
Wir schreiben das Jahr 2159. Die Welt ist zu einer einzigen gigantischen Müllhalde verkommen. Während die 99 % der Bevölkerung in den Ruinen der Vergangenheit hausen, hat das eine Prozent der Privilegierten der Erde den Rücken gekehrt und die idyllische Raumstation Elysium bezogen. Da es den Menschen hier an nichts mangelt und sie über Technologien zum Lebenserhalt verfügen ist ein Platz auf Elysium heiß begehrt. Somit sind die Einwanderungsrichtlinien besonders strikt, und Secretary Rhodes wacht über deren Einhaltung mit rigider Hand. Sollte doch jemand dagegen verstoßen, ruft dies den Söldner Kruger auf den Plan, der in den Slums auf seine Einsätze wartet. Hier unten lebt auch Max, der eines Tages durch einen Arbeitsunfall eine letale Strahlendosis erhält. Ihm bleiben nur noch fünf Tage zu leben, und die rettende medizinische Versorgung gibt es nur auf Elysium. In seiner Verzweiflung lässt sich Max auf eine gefährliche Mission ein …
