Overview
Zusammen mit einem reichen Freund reist das Ehepaar Port und Kit Moresby 1947 nach Afrika. Man will die Zivilisation hinter sich lassen und durch extreme Erfahrungen die eingefahrene Ehe wiederbeleben. Doch die erhoffte Wirkung bleibt aus. Man streitet, betrügt sich und reist weiter auf der Suche nach immer entlegeneren Gegenden, die schließlich dem verwöhnten Begleiter zu unwirtlich sind. Schließlich findet das Ehepaar zwar zusammen, doch da stirbt Port an einer Typhuserkrankung. Auch für Kit gibt es kein Zurück mehr. Sie lässt sich treiben und zieht mit einem Beduinen durch die Wüste.
