Als dem stets einem Humpen Whisky nicht abgeneigten Familienvater Desmond Doyle die Frau auf Nimmerwiedersehen davon läuft, sprechen ihm die Behörden auch noch das Sorgerecht für die drei Kinder Dermot, Maurice und Evelyn ab.
