"Eragon" to opowieść o zwykłym wiejskim nastolatku, który znajduje jajo smoka. Pewnego dnia do wioski, w której mieszka przybywają obcy, którzy brutalnie mordują wuja Eragona. Chłopak pragnie się zemścić i w towarzystwie swojego nowego mentora i smoczycy rusza w pogoń. Nie okazuje się to jednak jedynym celem jego wyprawy. Po wielu wzlotach i upadkach Eragon powoli dowiaduje się prawdy o sobie, zakochuje się, aż wreszcie bierze udział w wielkiej bitwie...
