Tyler (Robert Pattinson) jest zbuntowanym chłopakiem, który nie potrafi znaleźć swojego miejsca w życiu. Podczas nocnej wyprawy w miasto, staje się mimowolnym uczestnikiem burdy. Surowy i dość brutalny policjant (Chris Cooper) nie chce mu puścić płazem wybryku, którego w rzeczywistości Tyler wcale nie popełnił. W ramach żartobliwej „zemsty”, Tyler flirtuje z córką gliniarza, Ally (Emilie DeRavin), nie spodziewając się, że wkrótce stanie się ona dla niego najważniejszą osobą na świecie.
