Overview
August 1980: Baseball-Spieler Jake hat gerade sein Abitur gemacht und beginnt nun sein Studium an einer Universität im südöstlichen Texas. Als Jake in das heruntergekommene Wohnheim einzieht, das für die Baseball-Mannschaft vorgesehen ist, wird er von seinen Mitspielern und Kommilitonen mit einer seltsamen Mischung aus Kameradschaft und Feindseligkeit begrüßt. Der eingebildete McReynolds macht keinen Hehl aus seiner Abneigung gegenüber Jake. Der ungestüme Roper der Stoner Willoughby, Schürzenjäger Nesbit und der wortgewandte Finn aber werden schnell zu Jakes Freunden. Zusammen schlagen sie sich auf ausgelassenen Parties und in Clubs aller Couleur die Nächte um die Ohren, wenn sie nicht gerade zusammen Baseball spielen. Als Jake eines Tages die schöne Beverly kennenlernt, weiß er gar nicht mehr, wo ihm der Kopf steht...
