Mr. Malcolm (Sope Dirisu) ist im England des Jahres 1818 der begehrsteste Junggeselle. Als er Julia (Constance Wu) verschmäht, weil sie seinen Anforderungen nicht genügt, setzt er eine Reihe von romantischen Verwicklungen in Gang: Julia überredet aus Rache nämlich ihre Freundin Selina (Freida Pinto), sich als die perfekte Braut für Mr. Malcolm präsentieren.
